WWCC is gearing up for a very busy year. Our calendar is set, and we've added some interesting new events to the mix. The first of these is a series of demo/tech/build sessions at Portable 1 - a classroom/meeting room across the street from our normal combat site at the Penitencia Creek Percolation ponds.
These Demo/Tech/Build sessions are open to club members, community members, veterans and anyone interested in getting better acquainted with our hobby and club. Free! Next Demo/Tech/Build session is February 12th, from 10:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M.

Battleships, cruisers and destroyers slugged it out for the 4th year at the 6th annual California Maker Faire. Also, more hands-on stuff for kids was provided in partnership with the San Francisco Model Yacht Club.
Back for year number 4, Western Warship Combat Club presented the ever-popular Axis vs Allies battles at Maker Faire, with four combat bouts on Saturday, and three on Sunday. Six-foot long battleships, cruisers and destroyers fired CO2-powered guns in ferocious combat to the death. It was sink or surrender - and nobody surrendered! Thousands cheered for their favorite fleet as steel balls flew (Safety goggles were provided.) The club had many of our ships on display at the Battle Pond, and club members were available to answer questions throughout the day - both WWCC and SFMYC.
In the mornings, from 10:00 until 11:30, The San Francisco Model Yacht Club conducted a wide range of hands-on activities for kids in the Battle Pond, including Race 'n' Shoot contests - the special, hands-on combat events just for kids, featuring R/C boats that launch ping pong balls at targets, and teaching kids how to sail RC sailboats and power boats.
